One question I hear often when customers come in is, “Which fragrance should I use in this room?”
My honest answer is that your whole home doesn’t need to smell exactly the same. Each room has a different purpose and a different feeling, so I like choosing fragrance based on how I want that particular space to feel.
Right now, my personal go-to scents are Velvet Vanilla Noir when I want a warm, cozy atmosphere and Sea Salt & Orchid when I want something clean and refreshing. I love them both, but for completely different reasons. Some days I want that soft warmth around me, and other days I want the whole house to feel fresh and bright.
Here are a few of the fragrances I would choose for each room.
The Living Room: Warm and Welcoming
The living room is where we relax, visit with family and friends, and spend a lot of our time at home. I want it to feel comfortable and welcoming, but still polished.
Apple Maple Bourbon adds a rich, comforting warmth. Mahogany Teakwood gives the room a more refined, woodsy feeling. When I want something softer and cozier, I reach for Velvet Vanilla Noir. It is warm and sophisticated without feeling like a traditional sweet vanilla, which is why it's one of my current favorites.
A candle is especially nice in the living room because the glow becomes part of the atmosphere. In a larger room, wax melts are another great way to help the fragrance fill the space.
The Bedroom: Soft and Relaxing
The bedroom should be the place where the day finally becomes quiet. I prefer fragrances here that feel soft, comforting, and relaxing.
Lavender Vanilla is a natural choice when you want something peaceful and familiar. If you prefer a fragrance that feels a little more sophisticated, Dahlia Woods gives the room a refined atmosphere while still feeling soft enough for the bedroom.
I also love using a Room + Linen Spray as part of an evening routine. Lightly mist it over your pillows and sheets, allow the fabric to dry, and the room will feel freshly made when you climb into bed. It only takes a moment, but it makes bedtime feel a little more special.
The Bathroom: Clean and Refreshing
The bathroom is one place where I almost always want a fragrance that feels fresh and clean.
Sea Salt & Orchid is one of my favorites because it has a clean, airy quality balanced by soft florals. Mint Eucalyptus is another good choice when you want the room to have a cooler, spa-like feeling.
A Room + Linen Spray works especially well here. A few sprays can quickly refresh the room before guests arrive or anytime you want that just-cleaned feeling without lighting a candle.
The Kitchen: Bright or Comforting
The kitchen can be a little harder to fragrance because the scent has to work alongside whatever you are cooking.
When I want the kitchen to feel bright and energized, I would choose Revive. When I want something warmer and cozier, Bourbon Coffee brings in the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee with subtle bourbon and sweet vanilla.
Revive is wonderful for starting the day, while Bourbon Coffee makes the kitchen feel like the kind of place where you want to pour another cup and stay awhile.
The Home Office: Focused and Grounded
For a home office, I like fragrance that gives the room some personality without becoming distracting.
Revive is a good choice when you want the space to feel fresh and uplifting, especially in the morning. Caramel Tobacco creates a completely different mood. It feels warmer, richer, and more grounded, making the office feel a little more sophisticated and settled.
Even if the rest of the house is busy, choosing a fragrance specifically for your workspace can help it feel like a space with its own purpose.
The Entryway: A Welcoming First Impression
The entryway sets the tone for your home before anyone sees the rest of it. I love the idea of being greeted by a beautiful fragrance as soon as I walk through the door.
A Room + Linen Spray is an easy way to refresh the entryway right before guests arrive. If your entry opens into the living room, a candle placed safely nearby can allow the fragrance to carry through both spaces.
Choose something that feels like your home, whether that means warm and cozy, clean and refreshing, or rich and sophisticated.
Let Each Room Have Its Own Personality
Using different fragrances throughout your home doesn’t mean they have to compete. I like choosing scents that share a similar mood and letting each room have its own personality.
You might use clean, refreshing fragrances in the bathroom and kitchen, then choose softer or warmer scents for the bedroom and living room. They don’t have to match perfectly. They just need to feel like they belong in your home.
